AK – book presentation: neo-liberal Union, or a social Europe?

Approaches and obstacles to a social reorientation of the EU

Vienna (OTS) – a Few months before the elections to the European Parliament, the future of the EU appears to be highly uncertain. In the case of the social developments of serious differences within member States and between the EU-countries. The primary energy-saving and competitive pressure focused crisis policy in several member States, with devastating social effects. But already previously in the EU, the welfare state targets were the rules of the market freedoms, and Budget.

In which direction is the social situation of the EU developed, and how social the EU? What are the obstacles and what are the prospects for a substantial social realignment of the EU? The collection of „neo-liberal Union, or a social Europe?“ deals with these questions. The analysis of the band spans a wide arc, ranging from the economic policies of the Eurozone and their gender and policy implications on wage development, youth unemployment and atypical employment to wage and social dumping, Poverty and questions of tax justice.
