FEEI and FH Technikum reward the best students

Mentors from industry as role models for technology-Junior

Vienna (OTS) – The trade Association for the electrical and electronics industry (FEEI), UAS Technikum Wien signed already for the 13th time. Time in the context of the „1000 euros instead of flowers“ the best FH-students of the last academic year for their outstanding achievements. The winners of the waiver of tuition fees of 1000 Euro in bar, as well as the participation of high-calibre mentors program wait. The proportion of women at the FH Technikum, Austria’s only purely technical University of applied Sciences is located at about 20 percent, or more than 800 students.

The scholarship „1000 euros instead of flowers“ is awarded each year by the FEEI and the FH Technikum six students from the Bachelor’s or master’s study programmes of the FH Technikum – four of them for very good performance and a grade point average of below 1.4 in the previous year of study and two with a focus on the compatibility of family and studies or work and study.

The recognition includes a voucher for the tuition and fees for two semesters and 1000 Euro in cash sponsored by the FEEI and the University of applied Sciences Technikum. In addition, the student have to take part inside the ability on the mentor program.

High-Caliber Mentors Program

„The mentor program is now well-established and – for both mentor as well as student – very valued part of the scholarship. This year could be gained for successful technology from renowned companies in the electrical and electronics industry, which are available to the students as a contact person and a role model to the page.“, Lothar Roitner managing Director of FEEI happy. In the framework of the programme, the student will accompany their mentor in professional activities and an insight into the practice. Conversely, the mentor has the opportunity to projects of the student Mentee to participate and to give Feedback.

This year there is also a kick – off or closing event are provided in addition to the individual Meetings between mentor and Mentee. All the women get to know each other and be prepared for the program. At the end of the common year, all couples are asked to a reflective conclusion. In addition, company also need to make back network, guides, and seminars in the framework of the network „women in technology“ planned. Gabriele Költringer, managing Director of FH Technikum Wien explains: „on the Basis of Role Models, it is shown that many of the women in various areas of technology are successful. You will demonstrate role model – not only for your Mentee, but generally speaking, for society and the young in the art. For the first time, the mentors will accompany the program by a professional Coach.“

Industry is looking for technicians

Fritz schmölle Beck, rector of the FH Technikum adds: „Mentoring is a good tool for the promotion of women. The proportion of women at the FH Technikum is growing steadily, what and very happy. Nevertheless, it is still a major concern, to inspire even more women for technical courses. Because this would have the industry is very necessary.“

On the FH Technikum

The University of applied Sciences Technikum Wien was founded to inspire people to technical studies and to respond to the demand for technical leaders in the industry. In the 23 years of its existence it has brought to 9,000 graduates. Currently, more than 4,800 people study at Austria’s only purely technical University of applied Sciences.
