The Kunsthal Rotterdam presents the first retrospective exhibition about the French fashion designer Thierry Mugler: Couturissime

Rotterdam, the Netherlands (ots/PRNewswire) – this fall, the Kunsthal Rotterdam proudly presents the first retrospective about the French fashion designer Thierry Mugler. In this major exhibition of the diverse universes of the undeniably legendary visionary Couturier, Director, photographer and Perfumer will be shown in a retrospective of his work, in particular his Ready-to-wear and Haute Couture creations.

12. October 2019 – 8. March 2020

The world premiere of the exhibition organized by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Clarins Group and the Maison Mugler, is produced and circulated, will be presented from 2 March to 8 September 2019 in Montreal. As a cooperation partner, the Kunsthal Rotterdam is the second Station and the first place in Europe where this spectacular retrospective will be issued.

Spectacular and immersive

The exhibition ‘Thierry Mugler: Couturissime’ brings together more than 150 between 1977 and 2014 resulting Ensembles, most of which are to see for the first Time, as well as many previously unknown accessories and stage costumes, Clips and Videos, archival documents and sketches. One hundred of the greatest contemporary fashion photographers such as Richard Avedon, Guy Bourdin, Jean-Paul Goude, David LaChapelle, Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, Dominique ass man to complement the exhibition. Many of the immersive galleries were designed by artists such as Michel Lemieux and Philipp Fürhofer and the Special Effects Studio, and Rodeo FX. For one of the galleries with a Swarovski crystal chandelier designed by London-based Designer Tord Boontje. The Mannequins were made by Hans boodt and still retains much Mannequins, Rotterdam, the made-to-measure.

‘Thierry Mugler: Couturissime’ traces the path of an exceptional Creator who revolutionized fashion with morphological and futuristic cuts, glamorous, sculptural and elegant silhouettes, severe lines, wide shoulders and a wasp waist for a sublime, sensual and powerful woman in a state of constant metamorphosis. The exhibition offers an insight into his unique imagination, which is always true to his perfectionism, his Prestige in Hollywood-style, his dreams, exotic creatures, its eroticism, and Science Fiction. In the exhibition, his bold decisions to be explained, such as the use of innovative materials in the High Fashion, such as metal, faux fur, Vinyl and Latex.

Publication Thierry Mugler: Couturissime

“Thierry Mugler: Couturissime” is the first monograph dedicated to the fashion designer Thierry Mugler. This book, which was directed by Thierry-Maxime Loriot, contains Essays by Jeanne Beker, Nathalie Bondil, Marie Colmant, Matthias Harder, Jack Lang, Amelie Nothomb, Lou Stoppard, Stefano Tonchi, and Shelly Verthime. It brings together more than 350 archival images and unpublished photographs that have been signed by the biggest names in fashion photography, as well as photographs of Thierry Mugler. The show is curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot under the direction of Nathalie Bondil, Director and chief curator of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
