Viennese SPÖ women on women’s day: Always there for the women

Vienna (OTS/SPW) – On 8. March is International women’s day. On this occasion, the Viennese SPÖ women to remember that the fight for equality and women’s rights is not yet complete. „Just under a Black-and-Blue Federal government that places no value on women’s policy, with measures such as the 12-hour day or, most recently, the deletion of the objective of a women’s quota of 50 per cent in the case of AMS-means has shown, it is to fight, our duty is to continue, and to support women in the best possible way in your life in a self-determined, equal, and independent life,“ said the SPÖ-Wien Madam Chairwoman Renate Brauner. These claims are also at the centre of the current women’s day campaign, which currently runs under the Motto „Always the women“. „The social democracy has always fought for the women, and looks back on a long Tradition of strong women who have fought for their rights in our country and in Resistances overcome,“ says Brown. „This Tradition, we continue to 2019.“ ****

„Much of what we have as women today, was not long, of course, but had to be hard-fought,“ says councillor Kathrin Gaal, and remembers, for example, to the right of women to vote, was at the time of its introduction in 1919, a women’s political milestone. „Vienna was in the field of women’s policy has always been a role model. The Free Kindergarten and the long opening Hours allow for a good compatibility of work and family, there are numerous funding programmes for women and girls in the areas of occupational and health and protection against Violence, we are in Vienna right in the front“, emphasized the councillor. So it was brought about only recently, a fifth woman home for Vienna on the trip, the additional seats for women affected by violence.

At the same time, the policy of the black-blue government women’s policy is a big step backwards, warns the SPÖ Wien-woman Secretary Nicole Berger-Krotsch. „We are witnessing a Federal government, which removes funding for violence prevention projects, with the introduction of the 12-hour day, the reconciliation of work and family difficult, the minimum income cuts, which will hit especially Single parents, in the promotion of women to be full and only recently the target of a women’s quota of 50 per cent in the case of AMS funds has been deleted. And all this while the Minister stand idly by“, writes Berger-Krotsch. The SPÖ Wien-woman Secretary recalled that in 2019 before, there are three important elections – the chamber of labour election in March and the EU-election and the students ‚ Union election in may. „Only a vote for the social Democrats is a vote for women!“ (Final) ve
